IIA training and events

IIA Certificate in Internal Audit and Business Risk

When you study the IIA Certificate, attending the workshops is only half the learning experience. We recommend that you spend about 30 hours on each award, taking the time to read the recommended texts and reflect on your learning.

Most people spend the time approximately as follows:

  • Pre-workshop reading and preparation: 4 hours
  • Attendance at the workshop (over two days): 14 hours
  • Review of learning from workshop: 2 hours
  • Post-workshop reading and reflection: 4 hours
  • Completion of personal development log: 6 hours

For the best study and learning experience, make sure you allow enough time to complete all the stages.

Personal development log

The personal development log confirms that you have reflected on the learning gained at the workshop and identified ways to apply that learning to your professional practice.

You should complete one of these for each IIA award and submit it within six weeks of attending the workshop.

Professional experience record

Your professional experience record outlines your experience and contribution to key areas of internal audit activity.

You only need to submit one of these to complete the IIA Certificate programme.
