• Areas covered: Derbyshire, Hereford, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire, Nottinghamshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire, West Midlands and Worcester.
• Did you know that the West Midlands will be hosting the 2022 Commonwealth Games, bringing athletes from 71 nations to compete in 19 disciplines across 10 venues from Cannock Chase to Royal Leamington Spa?
• The region is also the birthplace of scientific, cultural and technology advancement such as the Industrial Revolution, Shakespeare, Samuel Johnson’s dictionary, Sir Edward Elgar, Lincoln Cathedral, Sir Isaac Newton, Ironbridge, and JRR Tolkien.

Meet the team

Chris Kenny, CMIIA, Chair

Chris has worked in internal audit for over eleven years. He started his career at Warwickshire County Council, and, after obtaining his CMIIA qualifications, moved on to specialise in IT Audit at Grant Thornton.

He worked his way up to Manager and was responsible for a wide range of public, private and not-for-profit internal and external audit clients. In 2017, he took up his current role as IT Audit Manager at Wesleyan.

Outside of work Chris enjoys spending time with his family, meddling with computers, cooking and photography.

Jon Darling, FCA, Vice Chair

Jon joined the University of Birmingham in 2016 as Head of Internal Audit.

He has almost 20 years’ experience in internal audit and risk management and has worked for a range of organisations in the public, private and third sectors.

After gaining the ACA qualification at KPMG, he moved to Birmingham City Council and later RWE Npower. Jon then moved to the Midcounties Co-operative to become Head of Risk and Audit in 2014.

Away from work, Jon has three sources of pride, joy and frustration: his two children and Sheffield Wednesday.
