Who are we?
The Chartered Institute of Internal Auditors is the only professional association for internal auditors in the UK and Ireland. We’ve been running since 1948 and are headquartered in Clapham.
Our story
Our Institute began life as a group of likeminded men and women committed to best practice. We started with a simple aim – to forge a London chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditors.

In order to raise the professionalism of internal auditing in the UK and Ireland, we have developed standards and policies to guide members in their work.
External quality assessment
Our EQAs help you set standards in your internal audit functions, and our approach to delivering them is centred on the practices of the profession with an emphasis on corporate governance, risk management and control.
